A few weeks back a friend asked me to go shoot the wire factory she works at before it closes operations at the end of the year. I thought it sounded cool and said sure, why not? I like poking around in weird places like old factories. Well, it was pretty awesome. This place has some serious history behind it, and walking through there was like walking back in time: the lighting, the sounds, the smells–they all spoke to a trade done the old school way in an industry that is moving toward new school efficiencies. It will be a shame when the place closes…here are a few of the several hundred shots I took that day to capture a lost art before it’s gone forever.
Coming to America
One of the coolest on-going assignments I have is working with World Relief shooting refugees who have just come from their own countries to now live in ours. There is a lot happening in this whole process…from airport pickups to moving into and furnishing new apartments, to learning English and how things work in America. It’s all fascinating. Here is a look into a recent shoot in Nashville.

Tigers
They’re not off to a real fast start, but this year’s version of the Colorado College Tiger Hockey Team is headed in a good direction. For the past several years I’ve shot the home games when not on assignment with my “day” job.
I’ve had a great time, and love to practice my craft under different conditions than I am used to, as well as get in some time watching great college hockey. Go Tigers!
