Sean Sheridan is a strategic advisor to chief executives and boards. He works with organizations that are already good and know they could be more.
Sheridan has run his own company for 25 years and carried his own profit-and-loss statement for every one of them. He has also spent 25 years working inside dozens of nonprofits, close enough to the people running them to see what separates a leader who moves an organization from one who only manages it.
He still takes production work, selectively, when the project is worth it.
In his humanitarian photography and filmmaking career, Sheridan spent more than two decades elevating people and organizations through the power of the image. That work took him to 99 countries, from refugee camps and disaster zones to the private offices of some of the most influential leaders of the last 30 years.
His photography and films have appeared on CNN and Good Morning America, in USA Today, The Seattle Times, SMITHSONIAN, Fast Company, Food & Wine, Science, GOOD, and The Daily Beast, on the cover of The Washington Times, inside a number of best-selling books, and on the main stage at TED. He was on the ground in Liberia in December 2014, documenting organizations working the Ebola outbreak, when TIME published the Person of the Year issue naming “The Ebola Fighters.”
He is the author of three books, all published through his own company: Journey, a retrospective on finding hope in life’s hardest places; Testimony Africa, on the terrible beauty of AIDS, genocide, and hunger across the continent; and Wahl STORY, on the artist Erik Wahl. He produced The Prize for Athletes in Action, which reached more than 300 million viewers including broadcast during the 2010 World Cup, and he executive produced and directed Eddie: The Untold Story of How Upside-Down Leadership Changed the World. Earlier, at Microsoft, he originated the product concept for the digital edition of Bill Gates’ The Road Ahead and developed content for Business @ the Speed of Thought.
His company, 4:Minute.Media, has worked alongside nonprofits whose campaigns have raised hundreds of millions of dollars for life-giving work around the world. He accepts a limited number of assignments each year.
